LIMEWASH IN CALGARY
Soft, breathable lime finishes with natural movement and depth.
MODERN LIME PAINT FINISHES FOR INTERIOR WALLS
Skinner Painting creates limewash and lime paint finishes throughout Calgary and surrounding areas. Lime paint offers a softer, more natural alternative to conventional acrylic wall coatings, creating gentle movement, tonal variation, and depth that shifts throughout the day as light changes across the surface.
Our limewash finishes are achieved using high-quality lime paints and mineral-based coatings, offering the same soft movement and breathable qualities of traditional limewash, with improved durability for modern interiors.
OUR LIMEWASH FINISHES
Lime paint works especially well in calm, architectural spaces where soft texture and natural movement are desired, including:
Feature wall
Bedrooms
Living rooms
Softly lit interiors
We work with carefully selected mineral and lime-based finishes, including systems from Pure & Original and San Marco, chosen for their depth, durability, and timeless appearance.
WHAT IS LIME WASH AND LIME PAINT?
Lime paint is a mineral-based wall finish made from slaked lime, water, and natural pigments. Rather than forming a surface film, it remains breathable, allowing moisture to move naturally through the wall while helping regulate interior humidity. It is also valued for its low-tox, naturally mould-resistant qualities, and many modern lime paints are low in VOCs, making them an appealing option for healthier interiors.
Limewash is the traditional application technique used with lime paint. As the lime paint cures, it reacts with carbon dioxide in the air through a process called carbonation, forming a durable, stone-like surface with a soft matte appearance and gentle tonal variation. A limewashed finish develops character over time and is valued for its movement and depth rather than perfect uniformity.
